WHAT AM I DOING HERE?
Ever wonder what in the world you are doing here?
God created you to be in a relationship with Him.
He created Adam and Eve in a garden called Eden and intended for them to work the garden, and enjoy their perfect relationship
with Him. He only gave them one rule -- don't eat the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Satan, the
deceiver, came along and tempted them to eat of the fruit, and in the words of Bill Cosby, God said, "Okay, everybody
outta the pool!"
That was the first sin, and the Bible says that each and every person has inherited a sinful
nature because of Adam's sin. The way God designed things, He requires a blood sacrifice to pay the penalty of sin. This
was done for Adam and Eve when an innocent animal was killed to cover their nakedness. This system of blood sacrifice went
on for thousands of years with the Jewish priests offering sacrifices for the people. Finally, God sent His one and only son
to be the perfect sacrificial lamb to deal with sin once and for all.
Jesus'
death on the cross nearly 2,000 years ago was the final payment that satisfied God's love for us and
His hatred for sin. Sin was atoned for once and for all as Jesus became the way for us to get to the Heavenly
Father and spend eternity with Him. The great news is that not only did Jesus' death
pay our penalty for sin, but he came back to life three days later to prove his power over
both sin and death. Since he has conquered the grave, he can certainly give us eternal life
in heaven.
1. Admit you are a sinner.
"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory
of
God." Realize God loves you anyway.
"God
demonstrates His own love for us in this -- while we
were yet sinners,
Christ died for us."
3. Repent
Just tell Him you're sorry. "Repent
and turn to God, so
that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshment may
come from the Lord. (Acts 3:19)
4. Receive
God's gift of eternal life.
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord." Choose to follow Jesus and trust him alone for your
salvation.
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe
in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be
saved."
6.
Live your life for His glory and honor in response
to what God
has done for you.
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of
God's mercy, to offer
your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and
pleasing to God -- this is
your spiritual act of worship."
